Her reputation preceeds her.
Zenyatta, maybe one of the best horse ever bred for racing will put her perfect 19-0 record on the line this Saturday and odds makers have established her as an 8-5 favorite.
With good reason.
So, the $5 million Breeder’s Cup Classic is hers for the taking.
It happens this weekend at famed Churchill Downs.
She is the early favorite in a field of 12 for Saturday’s 1 1/4 -mile Classic at the Louisville, Ky., track, where she will try to end her career with one more win.
Zenyatta will break from the No. 8 post against the boys.
“We like that number. It’s one of our favorite numbers,” said Ann Moss, who owns Zenyatta.
“It’s considered to be a lucky number.”
At 6, Zenyatta is the oldest horse in the Classic, which she came from behind to win last year on Santa Anita’s synthetic surface.
It was one of the best and most exciting races I’ve ever seen.
This time, however, she’ll be running on dirt against an accomplished field that includes Preakness winner Lookin At Lucky.
Blame was installed as the 9-2 second choice and will break from post No. 5. Quality Road was third choice at 5-1 and drew the No. 1 post. Lookin At Lucky was the fourth choice at 6-1 and will start from the far outside No. 12 post.
