There appears to be plenty of confidence behind the chance of star German filly Danedream winning a second successive Group 1 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe as the countdown is well and truly on to the final major middle distance contest in Europe of the 2012 Flat season.
Twelve months ago the Peter Schiergen-trained daughter of Lomitas stormed to a tremendously impressive five-length victory in the Longchamp spectacular, destroying a high-class field with a stunning turn of foot from the furlong marker that carried her clear of the Aga Khan’s Shareta, and the great mare Snow Fairy, who is a favourite of the Bet Victor racing community.
Both the runner-up and the third home from last year’s renewal are set to have another crack at Danedream and will arrive in Paris on October 7 in great shape; Shareta having followed her win in the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks last month with a very smooth victory in the Group 1 Prix Vermeille on Arc trials day at Longchamp at the weekend, while Snow Fairy was simply superb in following her win in France on her seasonal bow in August with a typically awesome performance to beat the high-class Nathaniel in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown recently.
Despite her rivals showing such great form there is plenty of confidence that Danedream can do the business again having come storming through to grab the King George VI& Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot in July in the very last stride when beating the unfortunate Coral Eclipse Stakes winner Nathaniel by a nose, before breezing to an ideal big race warm-up in landing the Group 1 Grosser Preis von Baden with something to spare.
Currently priced up as 9/2 joint-favourite and rated highly by many Bet Victor horse racing news networks with Japanese star Orfevre in the ante-post market for the Arc, Danedream is said to be working particularly well and will bid to defend her crown on the back of some excellent gallop reports that augur well for next month’s big race.
