Grandeur is to stay in America to compete in the Hollywood Derby following his incredible victory in the Breeders’ Cup card at Santa Anita.
The Grade Two Twilight Derby was where Grandeur was successful as he just beat Speaking Of Which to the finish line.
Trainer Jeremy Noseda was clearly delighted with the three-year-old as he said: “Grandeur showed that he is still improving and we were delighted with him,”
“Having stumbled at the start, it was a really big effort from him, although I’d said to William Buick to take his time and ride the horse with confidence.
“He has come out of the race in good shape and now heads on to the Hollywood Derby. He leaves Santa Anita at lunchtime today and will stay at Paddy Gallagher’s barn (at Hollywood Park) until the race.
“We will look to keep him in good shape between now and then and I feel he will go there as the one to beat.”
Noseda then suggested that Grandeur could stay in California for another race, but admits that the long-term plans are to send him to Dubai Carnival. Even people who prefer check out the latest Nudges and Features would surely love to see how Grandeur gets on in Asia.
He also then went on to say that he was impressed with form of The Gold Cheongsam, who finished in fifth place in the Juvenile Fillies Turf behind Flotilla.
He added: “It was a good performance by her from an awful draw. When she got levelled up in the home straight she flew home and showed herself to be competitive at that level,”
There is certainly a lot for Noseda to ponder over the next few months, especially with Grandeur, who seems to have an incredibly bright future and he will want to build on the five victories from ten starts in his career so far.
