Famous horse racing trainer Aidan O’Brien has left Sir John Hawkins as his only contender in the Portland Place Properties July Stakes at Newmarket on July 11 and he believes the horse can come out on top in this one.
The Irishman withdrew Coach House, Fountain Of Youth, Stubbs and Wilshire Boulevard for this clash, which might have surprised a few, but he clearly has a lot of faith in Sir John Hawkins.
The colt will have Ryan Moore as his jockey in this race and that is sure to be a big advantage as he is one of the best in the business and got a decent run out of the horse last time out.
When looking at his form, you can see that Sir John Hawkins has only been in action on two occasions, but that he has also won a race at the Curragh and followed that up with an impressive run at Royal Ascot, where he finished in third position – something that is never easy to do.
As he is the only horse from O’Brien’s yard in this race, there is pressure on the American colt to deliver, but the trainer clearly rates him highly and if at his best, he is going to be tough to beat.
If you are looking to place a horse racing bet, you can see that Sir John Hawkins is one of the front-runners for his next race and he should run well as six furlongs is the distance he has travelled in both of his trips so far – he has the knowhow.
There are a number of other contenders involved in this encounter and it is going to take Sir John Hawkins’ best run so far to come out on top.
However, with Moore and O’Brien representing him, the colt couldn’t come from much better contenders and is going to be tough for many to look past claiming his second win in three races.
