Nicky Henderson has a strong card for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham on Tuesday afternoon as he has given an entry to three horses – Grandouet, Binocular and Khyber Kim.
It is safe to say that the eleven-year-old, Khyber Kim, is being considered as an outsider here as BetVictor have him out at 40/1.
Grandouet and Binocular on the other hand, certainly have a chance of winning here and with the former at 8/1 and the latter available at a generous 10/1.
Binocular might just prove to be a very strong contender at Cheltenham as he has the knowhow here after winning the race back in 2010.
Not only that, he is trained by Henderson, who is of course one of the best around and is going somewhat under the radar at this stage, so perhaps the pressure is off him right now.
He has had just one run this campaign, which saw him finish in third place at Leopardstown, but in truth, that might have just been a chance to stretch his legs ahead of the Festival.
Henderson’s camp are in high spirits about Binocular’s chances as well as they feel he is in excellent shape and now as the Festival is just hours away, some punters are going to be looking at the 2010 winner and seeing what superb value he does look to be.
The nine-year-old was back in fourth position in the 2012 Champion Hurdle, so does have a point to prove again in this race.
Along with Hurricane Fly, Binocular is looking to do what no horse has done in recent years and win back the Champion Hurdle title as Rock On Ruby currently holds the crown.
You can’t help but feel as though this encounter is not only going to be the highlight of Tuesday’s racing, but it could prove to be the pick of the week with three previous winners involved.
Excited? Yes, so are we.
